Experience the Best of Curacao with Unlimited Vacation Club Mexico

The largest of the Dutch islands “ABC” (Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao) off the coast of Venezuela, Curaçao is one of the best kept secrets of the Caribbean. Most of its beaches are protected by coves and bays on the southwest coast, where the calm waters are perfect for snorkeling.

How to get there?

Fly to Hato International Airport at Margareth Abraham Square, a short distance from Willemstad.

How’s the weather?

The weather is Tropical Semi-arid with a temperature between 23 ° C and 32 ° C and with a rainy season from September to January. It is located in what is called the “Belt of hurricanes”, an imaginary line that places it in an area where it is not affected by the hurricanes so frequent in the rest of the Caribbean Sea, which makes it accessible and usable throughout the year.

What currency is used?

The currency is the Guiden of the Netherlands Antilles (also known as Florin), however the US dollars circulate freely.

What language is spoken in Curaçao?

The official language is Papiamento, but Dutch, English, and Spanish are also spoken.

What outdoor activities can you do?

Immerse yourself in any of the 40 dive sites that Curacao has to enjoy coral reefs populated with colorful species such as parrotfish, angelfish and snapper. Dive in the Mushroom Forest, with curious formations that resemble stars and fungi.
Snorkel in shallow water, among hundreds of tropical fish that have their home on a reef on a sunken ship. Take a trip to Klein Curaçao, an uninhabited island where you can snorkel, dive, and spot dolphins, turtles and stingrays.

Where can you spend the afternoons?

Spend the afternoons practicing hiking or mountain biking in the green fields where you will find old 17th and 19th century plantations. Start a shopping expedition to the heart of the cosmopolitan city of Willemstad, declared by UNESCO a World Heritage Site for its multicolored Dutch colonial architecture.
In the pedestrian zone and alleys of the Punda district you will find shops offering everything from French perfumes to fine Italian leather goods, all free of taxes. At nightfall, the action is found in jazz clubs, casinos and restaurants facing the sea.

Did you know that…..?

Laraha – the special ingredient of Curaçao liqueur – is a descendant of the sweet and juicy Valencia oranges that the Spanish conquerors brought in 1499. The sweet oranges from Valencia became bitter under the hot tropical sun, but from their aromatic peels, the extract is obtained which is used to create Blue Curaçao. In the old distillery Landhuis Chobolobo, you can see the process to make the liquor.
