With the staff that we met there, 14 days wasn’t long enough. Getting out of the car to waiting for champagne and cold towels, we were greeted by Helios, the UVC rep who led us to the preferred lounge, where Axel (Rose) checked us in. Little did we know that these 2 individuals would look after our every need. Helios ensured that we had a handicap accessible room available for our daughter who was arriving the next day. Throughout our stay, any little situation was corrected by Helios.

Axel is a very polite and caring individual, always greeting us with a smile. When our little granddaughter became ill, he arranged for a doctor and looked after obtaining the medication, bringing it down to the poolside when it arrived. He also checked on us to make sure she was getting better. One day he showed up with a snorkel and mask for our other granddaughter.

At the main pool, our server for the 14 days was Octavia. He just kept getting better and better as he got to know our drinks, bringing us new ones to try and surprising us with treats during the afternoon. He made sure we had water all the time and spoiled our grandchildren. Although not our server, Manuel stepped in any time we needed something and Octavia didn’t happen to be right there. He also took over our section when Octavia had his day off. We didn’t lose any level of service when he was there. I do have to thank Octavia for introducing me to the shrimp tacos for lunch. The best tacos I have ever had.

The entertainment crew of Rolphy, Joyce, and Brayan never stopped. From water aerobics to bingo, to ping pong tournaments the action was varied and entertaining. It doesn’t hurt when you win tequila playing bingo. Rolphy made sure the music was perfect for the crowd. At one time there were about a dozen ladies that got up and started dancing around the pool. He catered to our 2 granddaughters playing Baby Shark and Raining Tacos probably too many times. Rolphy was the favorite of our 2-year-old. Rolphy took us to the swimmable beach and brought food for the fish and looked after all the refreshments, umbrellas and snorkel gear. The foam party was unbelievable.

Joyce is full of energy and our oldest granddaughter’s favorite. They had quite a bond. Our youngest loves turtles and Joyce went and dug out a turtle costume and wore it to the pool in the midday heat. The next day our granddaughter made a Wonder Woman headband at Kid Adventure Club. Joyce saw it and she came back wearing a Wonder Woman costume. As we were leaving Joyce gave our granddaughter a Mexican doll to help remember her.

Brayan has nothing but energy and had the entire pool area hopping. He swam with our granddaughters many times along with Joyce. Brayan spent one of his days off showing our family around the two Cities. It was good to have a ‘local’ show us the sights. The girls called him Uncle Brayan.

When we went out touring and came back after 3, Roni the pool security person, ran right up and made sure he found loungers for us. He ran and got us new towels and got us set right up, while Octavia got us drinks we hadn’t even ordered yet. Over the 14 days, Roni and I got to be friends. Despite him speaking little English and me no Spanish, we had some good conversations. We are about the same age and something between us just clicked. He was always there to help adjust the umbrella to provide shade for our little ones. One day he shocked me by bringing me a gift he made himself. The man looks tough but he is a teddy bear. On our last day when we were leaving, the entire pool crew came up to us as a group to say our good-byes. There were lots of tears and hugs.

As for the facility, the food is good. I love to cook and it was a good break not having to do it for 2 weeks. Some of the restaurants and service were better than others. Not a fan of lots of sauces on the protein, which this resort uses a lot of. The service in Portofino was terrible our first night and after lodging a complaint with Helios, our service the next time was over the top. They did remember me. Bourdeaux is a good quality food and a nice restaurant with exceptional service. Oceana was disappointing both times we went. The kitchen was delayed opening for 15 minutes and when it did it was slammed as the restaurant was full. The sea bass was crispy by the time I got it. Good flavor but crispy. Seaside Grill is a good casual restaurant. Food is good, service excellent. I just wish there was more choice at night than steak and ribs.

The pool is cooler but is heated. Lots of fun and lots of room. The entertainment is well varied and gives something for everyone. The weddings and special functions do limit some entertainment some of the evenings. The rooms are spacious and clean. Showers are great. You can hear noise from other rooms and special functions when they are held close to your room.

Finally, the spa is a great place to go to. If going go at least a half-hour early to enjoy the facilities. I had Ines as a massage therapist. Very professional massage and adapts the pressure to your needs. I like severe deep tissue and she was able to accommodate. Highly recommend her.

When you arrive they say welcome home. After spending time there, it feels like home with lots of good friends. Whatever the management is doing to have the staff buy-in for service levels, is working. There is a true passion for service from all staff.

["post-11909","testimonial","type-testimonial","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail
["GET
