We were fortunate enough to visit this resort on December 1-8 and loved every minute of our stay. This was our fourth visit and the resort is extremely well kept with beautiful grounds and views throughout the property.
\nOur room was in building #8, Preferred Club Ocean View. This is the best location in the resort as it has an amazing ocean and golf course views. The location is ideal as it is close to getting to the beach, Preferred Pool area, spa, and restaurants. If you are able to book or upgrade to this room, it is definitely worth the money.
\nThe staff is what really keeps us coming back. Our visit was through the Unlimited Vacation Club (UVC) membership and we received top-notch service from the representative, Norberto Camacho Morales. He is a great guy and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our time. Our experience with the UVC membership is that provides more than what your typical \u201ctimeshare\u201d would do, they really go out of their way to make you feel special. We spent most of our day between the beach area, where we received constant great drink service from Eloy and the Preferred Pool area and got the best service from Cesar. During the time on the beach, we were able to see a couple of whales \u201cspurts\u201d from our chairs, it was far away, but still very cool. They also released turtles one afternoon and that was also very special. The weather was very cooperative, and the ocean was actually very calm and swimmable during our stay. Cesar, in the Preferred pool area, got to know us and would always help us set up our chairs and offer us sunscreen or magazines. He was extremely attentive and very knowledgeable of the resort activities and also the San Jose area.
\nThere is a very good selection of restaurants and food available throughout the day. We would get a specialty coffee in the morning from the CoCo Caf\u00e9 and one of the delicious mini cinnamon rolls (not to be missed )… For lunch, you have the option of the Seaside Grill, Market Caf\u00e9 and the open-air snack bar. We loved the taco trilogy and the ahi tuna appetizers at the Seaside \u2013 we got great service from Manuel. We absolutely love Coconut Ice cream and they were able to track it down for us even when they didn\u2019t have it on their menu for the day. We normally don\u2019t do a buffet for lunch, but we had it one day and the food was very fresh and delicious. They had burgers and fish grilled to order along with a neat cook-to-order pasta station. If you can\u2019t find anything to eat there, there is something wrong with you. I have a love\/hate relationship with the snack bar. I absolutely loved the option of getting Nachos and quesadillas with loads of guacamole, but I hated the 5 pounds I gained from my visits to the nacho bar! Dinners were also great, with a very good selection of restaurants. Our favorite was Portofino, the Caprese salad was very good and the filet was also great with a nice bottle of red wine. We ate there two nights and had excellent service from Humberto (Jorge). I could have easily spent every night at the bar at El Patio. The bartender there made the best Tamarindo and Guayaba Margaritas. We got excellent service from Carlos and the restaurant Manager, Angel, is great! We did go to Himitsu but did not go the Hibachi tables, we sat at the sushi bar and had some great rolls made by Lizzette. We tried that a couple of times, but take note, that they will not allow you to sit at the sushi bar area during the Hibachi table reservations \u2013 they are just too busy. Overall, our dining experiences were great!
\nWe like to relax and keep to ourselves, but if you are looking for entertainment, there seems to be something on the Entertainment calendar every hour. The swim-up bar pool seems to be very lively and there seemed to be a good mix of all ages while we were there. There is an evening show every night and we loved the Latin Music night \u2013 there was a large number of guests that were dancing and having fun! As I type this I am reliving our vacation and already making plans to return next year. Do yourself a favor and book your next vacation here!
